You could take it busking, on a canoe trip, or even just to a different room of your house with lugging a giant box around. The Katana Mini is a battery-powered mini amp. The Katana 50 weighs like 25 pounds and runs on wall power. Literally nobody (including BOSS) is arguing that this amp sounds fuller or has better features than a full-size combo amp.
It's more comparable to what some of those Strymon pedals draw than a traditional compact pedal. For purposes of comparison, 350mA is about 5.4 times the draw of a BOSS RV-6 Reverb. If you have one of those DigiTech/DOD ones or a something like a OneSpot, try that. I'm pretty sure that many of the traditional BOSS power supplies only put out 200mA, which wouldn't be close to enough. Regarding the power supply - it should work with at PSA-120S ( ), but that's the modernized one that puts out 500mA for current. You can kind of pseudo-reverb if you set the time and level right for what you are playing.įor $100 (actually used my Amazon credits) it was a great deal at an impulse price - Nice review, thanks for posting all that. The delay is actually pretty decent for a built-in delay effect. Still, I don't think I'll miss it all that much. The video above that suggests turning the delay time to 0 and max out the delay level does a great slap back echo effect, but it is NOT reverb. It would be great for you buskers, though that it isn't my thing. I don't think it's quite loud enough for a jam, especially with a drummer. It will let me go electric where i would otherwise bring an acoustic to be heard.
I expect to pair it with my Traveller Speedster for the road trips. This is my "take it out on the porch" amp and "throw it in my car for a road trip" amp. I don't see myself using pedals with it because the whole point is grab and go. Clean is pretty darn nice too, very well balanced. Brown sound is pretty convincing high gain. I found it actually to sound best when you don't go crazy with the gain setting (i.e. Sounds great with my LP, PRS SE, Gretsch 5420, and Tele (all with sight EQ tweaks to be sure). My Mini arrived yesterday and I got a chance to play it for about 45 minutes today.
